On the morning of July 21st, the opening ceremony of the 2025 Tianjin University-HKU International Summer Camp was held at Tianjin University. Dr. Wilton FOK, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Hong Kong, LU Li, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Precision Instrument and Instrument Engineering at Tianjin University, and TIAN Zhen, Associate Dean, attended the event. There were 32 undergraduate and graduate students from HKU Engineering and Tianjin University who attended the opening ceremony.
Professor TIAN Zhen, Associate Dean of the School of Precision Instrument and Instrument Engineering, delivered the welcome speech. He warmly welcomed all the faculty and students from HKU. He recalled the exchanges and cooperation between Tianjin University and briefly introduced the comprehensive support provided by the School for this summer camp, including resource investment and faculty staffing. He noted that HKU, as a leading Asian University, has upheld the motto “Enlightenment and Inquiry” for over a century, achieving remarkable results in academic innovation and talent cultivation. Meanwhile, Tianjin University, China’s first modern university, has consistently upheld its mission of “promoting learning and strengthening the nation” and practised its motto of “seeking truth from facts” for 130 years. The two universities share the lofty ideal of cultivating talent for the nation and shouldering the responsibilities of the times. This profound spiritual resonance makes today’s gathering truly precious. TIAN Zhen’s speech deepened the faculty and students’ understanding of the profound significance of the Tianjin-HKU Summer Camp and filled them with anticipation for the enriching journey that lies ahead.
Dr. Wilton FOK also conveyed the importance and support of the HKU Faculty of Engineering for this event. Dr. FOK expressed his sincere gratitude to the School of Precision Instrument Engineering of Tianjin University for its meticulous arrangements and the warm hospitality of the faculty and students of Tianjin. He praised the Tianjin-Hong Kong Summer Camp as a model for deepening cooperation between the two universities. He expressed his eagerness to further strengthen the partnership and expand areas of collaboration between the two universities through this summer camp. He expressed his confidence that the students from both universities would forge deep friendships and close collaboration through the daily interactions and exchange of ideas over the next two weeks, fostering sparks of innovation.
XIANG Heping, the HKU student representative, spoke excitedly, expressing his profound honour to participate in this summer interflow and eagerly looking forward to making friends with like-minded individuals, deepening exchanges and collaborations, and learning from and exploring together with Tianjin University students.

The Tianjin University-University of Hong Kong International Summer Camp program, established in 2014, has been successfully held for many years, serving as an important bridge for student exchange between the School of Precision Instrument Engineering at Tianjin University and the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Hong Kong. The 2025 summer camp will continue this tradition, bringing together outstanding students from both universities.

2025年天津大學—香港大學國際暑期夏令營開營儀式
7月21日上午，2025年天津大學-香港大學國際暑期夏令營（簡稱「津港夏令營」）開營儀式在天津大學舉行。香港大學工程學院副院長霍偉棟，天津大學精儀學院黨委副書記陸麗、副院長田震出席活動，來自香港大學和天津大學的32名本碩學生共同參加是次夏令營。開營儀式由精儀學院2024級大學部學生週珊羽主持。
精儀學院副院長田震教授代表精儀學院致詞。他熱烈歡迎遠道而來的香港大學全體師生，深情回顧個人、學院與香港大學的交流合作印記，簡要介紹了學院從資源投入、師資配備等方面為本次夏令營提供的全方位支持。他提到，香港大學作為亞洲頂尖高等學府，百餘年來秉持「明德格物」校訓，在學術創新與人才培養上成就卓著；而天津大學作為中國近代第一所大學，創辦130年來始終堅守「興學強國」使命、踐行「實事求是」校訓。兩校雖分處珠江之畔與海河之濱，卻共同承載著為國家育英才、為時代擔重任的崇高理想，這份深刻的精神共鳴，使得今日的相聚彌足珍貴。田震的演講深化了在場師生對津港夏令營深遠意義的認識，也讓大家對即將展開的豐富旅程充滿憧憬。
霍偉棟教授在致詞中，轉達了香港大學校方及工程學院對本次活動的重視與支持，並代表全體港大營員，對天津大學精儀學院細緻周到的安排和天大師生的熱情接待表示由衷感謝。他盛贊津港夏令營是兩校深化合作的典範之作。他表示，香港大學熱切期待透過本次夏令營，進一步鞏固兩校夥伴關係，拓展合作領域，並深信兩校營員在接下來兩週的朝夕相處與思想碰撞中一定能建立深厚的友誼和緊密的合作，共同孕育出創新的火花。
