What an Incredible Debut for HKU-EEE RoboLeague 2025!

The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at The University of Hong Kong (HKU-EEE), in collaboration with the Emerging Microelectronics & Ubiquitous Systems Lab (EMUS), proudly hosted the first-ever “HKU-EEE RoboLeague” on July 19, 2025, bringing together twenty secondary school teams from Hong Kong and Macau.

The competition exceeded expectations, creating an inspiring platform for young minds to explore STEM education through hands-on robotics experience. Students demonstrated remarkable technical skills, creative problem-solving, and innovation across multiple robotics challenges, including Mini Rescue Mission, Maze Challenge, Standard Platform Robot Soccer, and Open Platform Robot Soccer. The list of the winning teams is as follows. 🎉

Mini Rescue Mission
🥇 Champion: Pui Ching Middle School (Macau)
🥈 1st Runner-up: HKMA David Li Kwok Po College

Maze Challenge
🥇 Champion: Tseung Kwan O Government Secondary School
🥈 1st Runner-up: Belilios Public School

Standard Platform Robot Soccer
🥇 Champion: Yu Chun Keung Memorial College No.2
🥈 1st Runner-up: Cheung Sha Wan Catholic Secondary School
🥉 2nd Runner-up: Newman Catholic College

Open Platform Robot Soccer
🥇 Champion: Cheung Sha Wan Catholic Secondary School
🥈 1st Runner-up: HKMA David Li Kwok Po College
🥉 2nd Runner-up: Pui Ching Middle School (Macau)

Prof. Ngai WONG and Dr. Victor Chung Sing LEE of the HKU-EEE, and Mr. Arthur CHUNG, Vice President at Avnet, were invited as award presenters. They commended the students for their innovative mechanical designs, programming strategies and the real-world potential of their projects.

Lastly, a huge congratulations to all the winning teams for their outstanding performance and creativity! We hope to expand participation next year by partnering with more schools and educational institutions, further bridging STEM education with practical applications and empowering young innovators to shape the future.
