HKU-ECE Shines at the 51st International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of Hong Kong (HKU-ECE) achieved remarkable success at the 51st International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva, securing a total of six prestigious awards, including three Gold Medals and three Silver Medals. 

Recognised as the world’s largest exhibition devoted exclusively to inventions, the International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva attracts global attention and participation. All entries are rigorously evaluated by an international jury comprising 135 specialists. This year’s event featured over 1,000 inventions from 35 countries and regions, underscoring its stature as a premier platform for innovation.

The award-winning projects this year exemplify HKU‑ECE’s strong commitment to innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the translation of cutting-edge research into impactful real-world applications. Details of the awarded projects are as follows:

Gold Medals

  • Project Title: Generative-AI Knowledge-based Educational Chatbot – A Trusted Learning Partner for Students
    Principal Investigators: Ir Dr. King Hang LAMDr. Albert Ting-Leung LEE, and Dr. Vincent Wai Leuk TAM

  • Project Title: Gold Piezoelectric Diamond Membranes
    Principal Investigator: Prof. Zhiqin CHU

  • Project Title: UltraNDE– Ultrafast Ultrasound Microscopy: A Non Destructive Evaluation Solution for Three-Dimensional Integrated Circuits
    Principal Investigators: Prof. Wei-Ning LEE, Mr. Bingze DAI (PhD Candidate), Ms Yang LENG (PhD Student), and Mr Shiqi YANG (PhD Student)

Silver Medals
