Biography

Dr. Vincent Tam received his Ph.D. degree from the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering in the University of Melbourne in 1998 for his unprecedented work on integrating local search based constraint solvers into constraint logic programming. From 1998 – 2001, he was an Academic Fellow in the Department of Computer Science in the National University of Singapore (NUS) where Vincent was the winner of the Innovative Teaching Award (2000) among 80+ academic staff in the School of Computing, NUS. He is a Principal Lecturer in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, the University of Hong Kong. He was awarded with the Faculty Best Teacher Award (2010), Faculty Outstanding Teaching (Team) Award (2013), Faculty Outstanding Teaching (Individual) Award (2017), Faculty Outstanding Teaching (Team) Award (2019), Faculty Best Teacher Award (2022) and the Fellowship (FHEA) of the AdvanceHE (formerly as the Higher Education Academy) (2019). Dr. Tam has over 190+ internationally refereed publications, including 10 book chapters and 37 journal papers. His main research interests include artificial intelligence, data/learning analytics, computational finance, mobile computing, deep/machine learning, Internet of Things (IoT), and information visualisation.
