The Quantum Education Society, a Student Interest Group (SIG), led by Prof. Zhiqin CHU from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Hong Kong (HKU), has developed a series of compact Quantum Demonstration Kits (QDK), to teach quantum technologies to students in a hands-on interactive manner. Their project was recently awarded the Innoshow Award for their exceptional demonstration of diamond-based quantum sensing. Their initiatives have led to an overall holistic professional development of students, providing out-of-classroom and experiential learning opportunities for undergraduate students. Moreover, the team is looking to commercialise their developed technology and has incorporated a spin-off start-up company focusing on Quantum Education as well. In the near term, the researchers plan to expand their portfolio by adding more sophisticated quantum physics demonstrations and experiments to their laboratory. The team acknowledges the Tam Wing Fan Innovation Wing and Philomathia Foundation Innovation Fund for their support.
