香港大學與中國工程學院於2024年9月27日成功舉行了題為《新一代資訊工程科技新質生產力技術》的聯合發佈會。該發佈會主要會場地位於北京，而香港大學則作為分會場，通過即時視訊連線同步進行。大約30位來自香港大學電機電子工程系的教職人員和研究生（RPg）參加了這次聯合發佈會。

The University of Hong Kong (HKU) and the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) successfully held a joint press conference titled “Next-generation Information Engineering Technologies as New Quality Productivity Technologies” on September 27, 2024. The main venue for the conference was in Beijing, with a branch venue at The University of Hong Kong, which was conducted via real-time video conference. Approximately 30 Faculty members and Research Postgraduate (RPg) students from the HKU Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), participated in the joint press conference.
The conference discussed “Substitute List of Next-generation Information Engineering Technologies as a New Quality Productivity Technologies” is based on long-term research on the development strategy of information and electronic engineering technologies in China. It proposes 163 technologies in five areas — “Common Foundation”, “Acquisition, Perception, and Interaction”, “Computation, Control and Intelligence”, “Network, Communication and Security” and “Application Systems”. These technologies are analyzed and evaluated from various perspectives such as industrial support, technological maturity and granularity, providing valuable insights for technological innovation breakthroughs. Building upon conventional research, the newly proposed substitute list aims to expedite the development of innovative technologies that are perceptible and scalable, forging industry consensus and driving coherent industrial efforts.
This conference has deepened the exchange between The University of Hong Kong and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, nurturing anticipation for even closer collaboration in the future.
