Building upon our strategic partnerships with local secondary schools, a delegation of 23 teachers and students from five secondary schools (Chiu Lut Sau Memorial Secondary School, CCC Fong Yun Wah Secondary School, ELCHK Lutheran Academy, Kwai Chung Methodist College and Tsung Tsin College) attended a hands-on wireless charging workshop, which took place in the Computer Lab (CB-101) in Chow Yei Ching Building on November 16, 2024. This event started off with an inspiring speech by Prof. KW Chow, which is followed by an interactive workshop based on emerging technologies of wireless power transfer (WPT). This workshop equipped students with the knowledge and skills needed for participating in the subsequent inter-school competition known as “Power & Cheer – the Innovative Christmas Tree Design Competition”. The primary objectives are to enrich STEAM education with experiential learning as well as promoting HKU EEE. Our special thanks go to the Faculty of Engineering for sponsoring this activity under the Dean’s Fund for Outreach to Secondary School. We would also like to extend our profound gratitude and appreciation for all of the support from the EEE Department alongside Mr. Jack Pang, Vice Principal of ELCHK-LA for co-organizing this outreach activity.
