AI Abnormal Detection Technology developed in the EEE Sport AI Laboratory Exhibited in the InnoCarnival 2022

November 02, 2022

Developed by the Sport AI Laboratory, the AI Abnormal Detection Technology used Artificial Intelligent and deep learning to analyze abnormal situations in video stream. There are wide ranges of applications, such as drowning detection, mass event security assurance and children’s safety. Such applications were deployed in schools, social welfare organizations and the government departments. The Deputy Financial Secretary Mr Michael WONG Wai-lun, GBS, JP, visited the HKU booth.

Dr. Wilton Fok, the Lab Director, introduced and demonstrated the technologies for children’s safety assurance to Mr. Michael Wong, GBS, JP

Children’s Safety Assurance

To enhance the safety of children in schools and child centre equipped with 24-hour CCTV security system, this system can also act as a robotic inspector to continuously monitor every camera. When any abnormal situation occurs, the system can detect it and report to the supervisor to ensure the safety of the children. Some organizations such as Hong Chi Children Home are piloting this AI technology to improve the safety and quality of service.
