Biography
Ir Dr. Ching received the BEng and MSc degrees in Electrical Engineering from The Hong Kong Polytechnic and the Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Hong Kong. He served with the Hongkong Electric Co. Ltd., CLP Power HK Ltd. and the University of Macau. He has been with the HKUEEE since 2018. He is a Chartered Electrical Engineer as well as a Chartered Building Services Engineer.
He has been a member of the International Research Centre for Electric Vehicles. His research interests include building services, clean energy and environment, electric vehicles (EVs), energy conversion and utilization, engineering economics, EV charging and infrastructures, power electronic converters and variable speed drives. Dr. Ching’s courses are Electric Vehicle Technology and Advanced Electric Vehicle Technology. He has also co-supervised PhD students in his areas of expertise.
In professional service, he has served as a member of the Technical Taskforce on Mandatory Implementation of the Building Energy Code for the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department, and was a member of the Financial Committee of the IET Hong Kong and the Honorary Treasurer of Power and Energy Section of the IET Hong Kong. He has served as Reviewer for the Hong Kong Research Grants Council (RGC), and Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF).
He was an organizing committee member of the 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th Annual Power Symposium of the IET, and the 12th APSCOM.
Internationally, he delivered more than 100 technical presentations, and served as organizer and chairperson of a dozen of special sessions in international conferences:
