Biography
Dr. K.H. Lam is a distinguished teacher and industry expert, embarked on his career upon receiving his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) from The University of Hong Kong (HKU) in 1994. Dr. Lam returned to his esteemed Alma Mater in 1998, joining the HKU Photovoltaic research team.
As a pioneer in the field, Dr. Lam has been instrumental in advancing the application of Photovoltaic systems in Hong Kong. His expertise and leadership were recognized when he was elected Chairman (2008-2009) of the Hong Kong Photovoltaic Consortium, an organization he helped establish. His influence extends to policy-making, as evidenced by his pivotal role in the task group led by the Hong Kong Electrical and Mechanical Services Department, where he contributed to drafting the Technical Guidelines on Grid Connection of Renewable Energy Power Systems published in 2007.
In 2007, Dr. Lam earned his PhD from The University of Hong Kong. His exceptional contributions to both academia and industry culminated in his appointment as Lecturer at the Department of EEE, HKU in May 2014, followed by a well-deserved promotion to Senior Lecturer in July 2022.
Dr. Lam received numerous awards during his service at HKU, including the HKU Teaching Innovation Award 2020, HKU Faculty of Engineering Outstanding Teaching Award (Individual) 2021-2022, and HKU Faculty of Engineering Outstanding Teaching Award (Team) 2023-2024. With such achievements in Tertiary teaching, he was appointed the Associate Head (MSc Teaching and Learning) in 2024 by the Department where he served for over 10 years by then. He is now responsible for strategic reform of the Department in the MSc Programmes to nurture the next generation we needs.
