Twenty HKU Engineering students from the Departments of Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Mechanical Engineering had joint the International Summer Interflow Program from 13 Jul to 31 Jul, 2015. The Program was jointly organized by the HKU Faculty of Engineering and the Tianjin University under the Ten Thousand Talent Program supported by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of China. The theme of the Program was Robotics Challenge.
The Dean of Engineering, Prof. Norman Tien, visited the team on 20 Jul 2015 and introduced the initiative and achievement of advance robotics development to the student team. Prof. Tien addressed: “It was an excellent opportunity for HKU and Tianjin University students to exchange their knowledge on engineering and robotics technology in such a meaningful program”.

Opening Ceremony was officiated by Dr. Wilton Fok (HKU) and Prof. Hailung Wang (Tianjin University) on Jul 13, 2015.

In the Closing Ceremony, student representative Marco Lau gave a speech to thank teachers and tutors from the Tianjin University and affirm the long-term friendship with students of the Tianjin University.

During the program, students were required to build a battle robot for a competition within three weeks. In the competition, the robots needed to battle in a 2400mm x 2400mm platform. The one that can destroy or pull other out of boundary would be the winner. In order to be more entertaining, every robot has to obey the size limit and be auto-controllable. Also, all the attack devices should pose no harm to humans.
