Entrance Scholarships in MSc(EEE) and MSc(EnergyE)
The scholarships shall be awarded to students admitted to the BEng degree programmes of the department on the basis of academic merit. Each student admitted who, as judged by the Selection Committee, has excellent academic performance shall be awarded a scholarship of the value equivalent to the tuition fees for the first year of the programme in a given academic year.
The scholarships may be held concurrently with other awards administered by the University subject to the overall maximum value stipulated by the Senate.

Hong Kong PhD Fellowships Scholarship – HKPF
Eligibility
New applicants to full-time PhD programmes in government-funded institutions in Hong Kong, irrespective of their country of origin and ethnic background, are eligible to apply. Applicants should demonstrate outstanding academic performance, research ability/potential, communication and interpersonal skills, and leadership abilities.

Felix Wu Postgraduate Scholarship in Clean Energy & Environment
PhD Studentship under the HKU-Cambridge Clean Energy and Environment Research Platform
The University of Hong Kong and Cambridge University have established the HKU-Cambridge Clean Energy and Environment Research Platform (CEERP) for interdisciplinary research on clean energy and environment. Under CEERP, we have established a PhD research studentship at the University of Hong Kong. We advocate research in engineering-driven, societal-empowering, evidence-based decision-making. The PhD candidate will be co-supervised by HKU and Cambridge professors, spend up to one year as a visiting student at Cambridge, and obtain a PhD from the University of Hong Kong. We are interested in candidates with an interest in big data analytics, air pollution monitoring, and its impact on the well-being of the citizens.

ECE Departmental Conference Support Grant
To assist full-time RPg students in presenting their research at academic conferences, the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering offers the Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) Departmental Conference Support Grant.
Details of the grant are as follows:
- Eligibility: One conference grant per eligible full-time RPg student (Type B and Type A students, excluding awardees of HKU-PS and HKPFS).
- Availability: The grant is available after the utilisation of grants from the University (Conference Support for Research Postgraduate Students).
- Funding Limit: Up to HK$13,500 per application.
Applications should be submitted at least three weeks prior to the conference date to the Department General Office (Attn: RPg team). Approval from your supervisor and the DRPC is required. Please submit the reimbursement form and the relevant receipt, invoice and copy of e-ticket within three weeks after your return to Hong Kong. The application form can be downloaded HERE. Special Award and Write-Up Stations Information for New Research Postgraduate Students
The Research Student Centre (RSC) has been established in the Haking Wong Building to enhance the learning experience for Research Postgraduate (RPG) students. All RPG students are welcome to utilize the write-up stations at the RSC by making advance bookings at https://booking.lib.hku.hk. Additionally, computer monitors are available at most write-up stations for your convenience.
In order to support your use of the write-up stations at the RSC, the Department will be providing a one-time special award of HK$5,000 to newly admitted Type-A and Type-B research postgraduate students (i.e. admitted after Feb 1, 2025, and Oct 1, 2025). Please note that the amount and terms of the award are at the discretion of the Department and are non-negotiable.
To ensure the timely disbursement of the award, students are reminded to set up a bank account under your name with a local bank in Hong Kong and submit the bank account details through the Student Information System (SIS) (HKU Portal > SIS Menu > Financial Services > View / Amend Bank Account Info) on or before October 31, 2025 / January 31, 2026. Failure to update your bank account information in SIS by the deadline may result in a delay in the award payment.
